It was a cool night in High River, Alberta as day 2 of Guy Weadick Days was run on Friday night. When the night wrapped up, it was last week’s Medicine Hat Stampede Champion Doug Irvine who emerged with the top time of the race meet so far after a fast run of 1:16.12.

Coming off barrel number 1 in heat number 7, Irvine, driving the B & R Eckel’s Transport Ltd. outfit, was the fast man on the night by 16 one-hundredths of a second over Mark Sutherland who settled for second place on the night. Day 1 winner Colt Cosgrave placed third, while Luke Tournier and Vern Nolin rounded out the top 5 runs on the night.

After 2 days, Colt Cosgrave tops the overall aggregate standings after a 2 run total of 2:32.73. That puts him 56 one-hundredths of a second in front of two-time High River champion Luke Tournier, with Mark Sutherland, Chad Harden and Rae Croteau Jr. filling out the top 5 overall. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2016 Guy Weadick Day Championship.
