CONTESTANTS SHOW TALENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE ARENA

Gillette, WY., July 21, 2016 – 1,638 contestants from Canada, Australia and the United States of America are competing in the arena at the 2016 NHSFR. 8 of those contestants are competing in the NHSRA Talent Contest.

Scholarships were given out to the top 3 of this talent contest. Kimberly Bauer, also known as Miss North Dakota High School Rodeo, was awarded 1st place for her musical talents (singing and playing guitar). Bauer is competing in the NHSRA Queen Contest here in Gillette, WY.

Second place was awarded to Cassidy McAdams of Virginia for singing and playing guitar. In addition to her love for music, McAdams also enjoys camping, fishing and,of course, rodeo. McAdams is also competing in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending.

The judges were being continuously asked by the stage host if they had finally reached a conclusion for their standings. The judges would reply, “No...no, no, no,” all while laughing. After a full 10 minutes of deliberation, the judges presented a tie for third and fourth place.

Danielle Knapp, Alabama native, and Arkansas’ Jacob Scroggins tied for third place. 18yearold Scroggins qualified for the NHSFR Team Roping. Knapp, a 17yearold 12th grader, qualified for Barrel Racing.

BaileyGrace Snyder, Hayden Cole, Sadie Fomby and Kelsey Martin also competed in NHSRA’s Talent Contest.

Everyone has hidden talents, but we are proud to say that our rodeo contestants aren’t afraid of showing their passions.

The National High School Rodeo Association facilitates the first and second largest rodeos in the world: National High School Finals Rodeo and National Junior High Finals Rodeo, respectively. This organization allows Canadian, Australian and American youth to participate in the great sport of rodeo throughout the year. The organization was founded in 1949, in response to a dream of Founder Claude Mullins to keep western heritage alive through roping, riding and mentorship.
