ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) 22-year-old Mason Lowe picked up the first Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) victory of his career with a win at the 20th Ty Murray Invitational, presented by Sandia Resort and Casino, Sunday afternoon at WisePies Arena, aka The Pit.

Lowe went 3-for-4 and closed out the weekend with a 90-point ride of Brutusin the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, one of two 90-point rides in the final round. Lowe picked up 40 world standings points in Round 2 placing fourth, 60 world standings points in the championship round, and 400 world standings points for leading the aggregate. He totaled 600 points toward the world standings overall and leaves Albuquerque as the 10th ranked bull rider in the world.

Stetson Lawrence finished second with 315 world standings points, placing 6th in Round 1 (15 world standings points), fifth in both Round 2 and 3 (60 world standings points each) and second in the aggregate (240 world standings points). Lawrence had ridden his first three bulls in Albuquerque before being bucked off by SweetPro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) in 2.9 seconds in the championship round.

Brazilian Eduardo Aparecido walked away with third place and 280 world standings points, placing third in both Round 3 and the championship round for 50 world standings points apiece and 180 points towards the world standings after placing third in the aggregate. Aparecido went 3-for-4 as well, and turned in an 88.5-point ride aboard Little Red Jacket (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) in the final round to close out his weekend.

Reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney and Cooper Davis split fourth place, both earning 265 points in the world standings.

Mauney, who had won the first two rounds this weekend for 100 world standings points each and an additional 65 world standings points for his fourth-place finish in the aggregate, was a perfect 3-for-3 heading into the championship round where he faced off against the reigning World Champion Bull SweetPro’s Long John (D&H Cattle Co.). Long John bucked off Mauney in 7.56 seconds during the championship round for a 46.75-point bull score to earn the NationLease High-Marked Bull award.

Davis, meanwhile, finished up his 2-for-4 weekend with the first 90-point ride of his Built Ford Tough Series career, posting a 91.5-point ride on Crossfire(Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls), the high-scored ride of the weekend. Davis earned 60 points towards the world standings for placing second in Round 2, 100 world standings points for winning the championship round and tallying his final 105 world standings point by earning a third-place finish in the aggregate.

Round-3 winner Reese Cates rode Hammer It Again (Sharp/Langston). Cates finished eighth overall after being bucked off by Boot Jack (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Jerry Brown) in the championship round.

Albuquerque was the 11th of 26 stops on the PBR’s 2016 Built Ford Tough Series. The tour will take a week off for Easter and resume April 1-3 for the First Premier Bank/Premier Bankcard Invitational at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Following Round 2 on Saturday, April 2, the sport’s top bovine athletes and best bull riders will compete in a special round of competition, the PBR’s third 15/15 Bucking Battle of the season. The series’ Top 15 riders will be randomly matched against the 15 highest-ranked bulls in this round, competing for bonus points which count towards the PBR world standings and a total purse of $21,000.

CBS will broadcast the 15/15 Bucking Battle on Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
