The finals of Guy Weadick Days wrapped up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in High River, Alberta. When the times were tabulated, it was Mark Sutherland, driving the The Town of High River sponsored by K-Link Developments outfit, and along with outriders Rory Gervais and Dayton Sutherland, who took the championship after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 5:13.13.
Sutherland won the championship by a large 2.48 second ahead of 2016 Saskatoon champion Vern Nolin. Logan Gorst finished third overall, with Kurt Bensmiller and Chad Harden completing the top five overall in the aggregate standings.
As far as day times went, Gary Gorst’s TCB Trailer Services outfit, had the best time on the afternoon with a run of 1:17.27 from barrel number 4 in the eighth heat. 55 one-hundredths of a second behind was Rae Croteau Jr., followed by Vern Nolin, Rick Fraser and Jess Willard driving Cliff Cunningham’s outfit rounding out the top five wagons on the day.

Day 1 of the Ponoka Stampede can be heard on WPCA Pro Tour LIVE starting at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:00pm Mountain time on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 147 or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville.
