After a successful run in Medicine Hat, the WPCA Pro Tour rolled into High River for the running of Guy Weadick Days where Mitch Sutherland came into this year’s event as the defending champion. Weather and track conditions were very favorable, and some tremendous chuckwagon races were seen by the High River fans. When the dust settled, it was Colt Cosgrave who came away with the day money after a penalty free run of 1:16.44.
Coming off barrel number 1 in the seventh heat of the evening, Cosgrave, driving the High River Autoplex & RV outfit posted the top time of the night and placed first overall for the day by a mere 6 one-hundredths of a second over two-time High River Champion Luke Tournier. 1981 champion Kirk Sutherland was third, Evan Salmond was fourth and Rae Croteau Jr. rounded the top five on night.
The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2016 Guy Weadick Days Championship.
Tune into day 2 of Guy Weadick Days from High River on Friday night, June 24, 2016, on WPCA Pro Tour LIVE starting at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:00pm Mountain time on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 80 or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville.
