Balzac, Alberta -- A beautiful afternoon allowed for networking, fundraising and bull riding action at the fantastic Girletz Rodeo Ranch on July 8th.

With only 16 contestants getting in to the private event, the bull riding entries definitely had an international flavor. There were contestants from New Zealand, Australia, Brazil and Canada, all trying to win the championship trophy buckle.

The bulls buckled in Balzac.

The bull riders demonstrated a lot of heart and effort; riding 25-percent of the animals for the event.

The Cowtown Rodeo event title went to Marcos Pereira, Brazil, scoring 83 points on the back of North of 60 from the Meston Rodeo Company. Marcos received his championship buckle in front of several hundred appreciative spectators. After being unranked last week, the win moved Marcos into the 38th spot in the BRC National Standings. Through his interpreter, Marcos said he wants to "...thank BRC for everything!

Thank you to Marcos Pereira for submitting the clip of his winning ride:

Griffin Smeltzer, Claresholm, AB, continued to improve his riding average, placing second in the event and moving into the number three spot in the BRC National Standings. Ben Gard, Albury Australia, was third in the event and climbed four spots while another contestant from Claresholm, Logan Biever, moved up six places from 32 to 22 by placing fourth.

Bull Riders Canada crossed the $110,000.00 mark in payoffs for Season IV...less than half way through the year with only 30 events out of 67 in the books. Bull Riders Canada President, Russell Friend, commnted "The Season IV Tour clearly demonstrates the commitment on behalf of local Committees across Canada who want to support the Canadian bull riding industry. These Committees have an opportunity with the Bull Riders Canada format and fee structure to generate money for their respective causes or charities while giving Canadian and International bull riders the opportunity to get on multiple bulls each weekend. There are well over 100 carded bull riders who are all trying to be inside the Top 30 heading into the Season IV Finals in Lloydminster, SK October 21 and 22nd. The Committees and Members of Bull Riders Canada understand the importance of having a National Finals event, as it validates all of the hard work and effort they have put forward. The BRC would not be a proper Association without a Finals.”

See everyone down the road July 15th in Whitecourt, AB and July 16th in Penticton, BC!
