SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Feb. 13, 2016) --- For the past three years, Joe Frost from Randlett, Utah, has competed at the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo and had to juggle his education and college rodeo schedule with riding bulls in the AT&T Center.

This year his full attention is on riding bulls and that is paying off. Frost is the big money earner in the first bracket of competition at $5,703. While he has always left here with a check, that is more money than he won here the first two years combined. Last year, he finished third here and collected $17,645.

That money helped Frost qualify for his second consecutive Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) where he finished the year in sixth place. He is currently ranked second in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings.

Frost’s success here came by winning third in the first round and finishing at the top of the leaderboard in the second and third rounds where he had identical scores of 85 points. His third round win came aboard Frontier Rodeo’s After All at the Saturday matinee performance.

There was one other contestant in the first bracket that earned over $5,000. Ivy Conrado, from Hudson, Colo., earned $5,132 in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association barrel race. Conrado, who leads the world standings is coming off of a big win at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and a second-place finish at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo in Denver. Conrado is having the best season of her career and a San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo win would certainly help her qualify for her first NFR.

The second bracket started at the Saturday night performance. Former San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo scholarship winner, Ace Slone win the tie-down roping. Slone, who makes his home just 80 miles away in Cuero, Texas, roped and tied his calf in 7.8 seconds to win $2,281.

The fifth performance of the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday and include contestants from bracket 2 competing in their second round.
