Viking, Alberta -- Maybe they are attempting to save for a vehicle, education or personal savings; regardless of the reason, most 16-year olds are beginning to think about what they will do for a summer job.

Bawlf, AB. bull rider and BRC Rookie Coy Robbins may have just bought himself some time while taking a big step in the BRC Standings. With a second place in the Long Round and an 84 point effort on Wild Hoggs 099 Mystery Soldier in the Short Round, the young gun claimed over $5000.00 and 200 points; vaulting him all the way into sixth spot in the BRC National Standings.

Will Purcell, from Merrijig, Australia has a share of the 11/12th place spot while Griffin Smeltzer, Claresholm, Alberta holds the 13th spot; both riders were not in the BRC National Standings last week and both riders earned those spots by riding well in Viking.

Bull Riders Canada has paid out over $38,000.00 in the 2016 Season.

The future looks bright for bull riding in Canada! Bull Riders Canada caught up with Coy Robbins after his first win. When asked about how it felt to win his first BRC event, Coy replied “ It felt really good to win this event so close to home,  I had lots of family and friends supporting me and there's no better way to win an event than when you got your family there! I would like to thank my personal sponsor Bedevil, LoneStar and Burns Custom Leather, as well as the committee for putting on a great event, the contractors! And the bullfighters!”.

Coy was also asked how he felt about being inside the BRC Top 10 in the Standings, “My goal is to make the finals in a pretty good spot, so I guess the one step closer. But I try not to worry about the standings, I find you'll just watch your self right out of them!”.

Thank you to Reita Creek Scoreboards for submitting the clip of Coy's ride.
