COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Glenn Fritzler, a PRCA Gold Card member and inductee in the Montana Pro Rodeo Hall and Wall of Fame, died at his Lodge Grass, Mont., home Dec. 23. He was 89.
A member of the Big Lodge Clan, Fritzler was known within the Crow Nation as Iichiililisshite Ahxpiiwaaniash (Plays with Bad Horses) and he spent much of his life training and competing on horses, good and bad.
Fritzler joined the PRCA in 1948 after returning from service in World War II – he witnessed atomic bomb testing on Bikini Island – and competed as a saddle bronc rider and steer wrestler before turning his attention to work as a highly-respected bullfighter/clown.
He also served a PRCA judge for several years, working some of the sport’s biggest events.
The Montana Pro Rodeo Wall and Hall of Fame of Billings inducted him in 2008, in the same class with Montie Montana.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin, Mont.
