TACOMA, Wash. – Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas) entered the PBR’s Tacoma Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, having not ridden a bull in two events since his victory at the Ty Murray Invitational on March 17. Wing broke his slump and rode his way to the victory Sunday afternoon at the Tacoma Dome.

Wing went 3-for-4 over the weekend, including an 89-point ride on More Big Bucks (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve) to win the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Wing’s second win in 2017 set a career-high for Built Ford Tough Series event victories in a season for the Texas cowboy.

For the finish, Wing took home 605 total world points and $39,130, moving him from No. 14 in the world standings to No. 7.

Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) was perfect in Tacoma to finish in second place. Vieira rode both of his bulls on Championship Sunday, starting with an 81.75-point ride on Roll Your Own (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger) in Round 2, and closing with an 88.75-point trip aboard Crazy Horse (Rocking I Rodeo Co) in the championship round.

It was the first time this season that Vieira went flawless over an event weekend, and it awarded him 305 total world points and $16,950.

Vieira leaves Washington state as the No. 10 ranked bull rider in the world.

Brazilian rookie Claudio Montanha Jr. (Riberirao Dos Indios, Brazil) finished in third place in Tacoma after a 3-for-3 performance. Montanha rode War Cry(New West Rodeos) for 85.25 points in Round 2 before ending with an 86.25-point ride aboard GOOD RIDE’s Jailhouse Jr. (John Peck/ Kaplow Insurance/ Viducic Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

Montanha netted 260 world points for the effort, along with a $10,900 paycheck, moving him to No. 15 in the world standings. The Brazilian also moved into second place in the Rookie of the Year race, and trails 2012 PRCA champion Cody Teel (Kountze, Texas) by 141.67 points.

Fellow Brazilian Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) finished in fourth place in Tacoma. Pacheco’s 88.25-point ride aboard Naughty List (Jenkins Cattle Co) capped a 2-for-3 effort that awarded him 155 world points, and $7,923. It was Pacheco’s second consecutive Top 5 finish, and it helped him swap with two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney (Statesville, North Carolina) for No. 2 in the world standings.

Pacheco trails world leader Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil), who finished 22nd overall in the event, by 885 points heading into the final event of the first half.

Emilio Resende (Santa Helena Do Goias, Brazil) rounded out the Top 5 after going 2-for-3. He opened Championship Sunday with an 86-point ride on Legal Tender (Rocking I Rodeo Co), but was eventually bucked off by Machinery Auctioneer’s Little Joe (Rocking I Rodeo CO) in 4.24 seconds in the championship round.

Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/ H&C Bucking Bulls) was named the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event after turning in a 45.75-point bull score when he combined with Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Washington) for a 93.5-point ride in Saturday’s 15/15 Bucking Battle.

Mauney was bucked off in Round 2 and the championship round, leaving him with only one ride in Tacoma. Mauney currently sits at 497 in his BFTS career, and will look to join World Champions Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) and Guilherme Marchi (Itupeva, Brazil) as the only riders to record 500 qualified rides on the PBR’s elite tour in Las Vegas at Last Cowboy Standing.

The first half of the 2017 Built Ford Tough Series will come to a close with Last Cowboy Standing at Las Vegas Helldorado Days, May 12-13. The two-day event is the third PBR Major of the season, and will offer increased world points and $100,000 for the last cowboy standing in the unique “ride or go home” format.

The action from Las Vegas will begin at 10:30 p.m. ET on PBR LIVE and the PBR LIVE app on May 12. CBS Sports Network will also broadcast the opening rounds on May 12 beginning with the “Inside the PBR Majors” pre-show starting at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The final rounds of Last Cowboy Standings can be seen exclusively on CBS starting at 4 p.m. ET on May 14.
