CHANSE VIGEN TAKES SECOND DAY MONEY OF THE WEEK AT THE BATTLE OF THE ROCKIES

It was a cold rainy night in Rocky Mountain House as night 3 of the Battle of the Rockies was run in some sloppy racetrack conditions. For the second consecutive night, reigning World Champion Chuckwagon Driver Kirk Sutherland received some expensive penalties, allowing Kurt Bensmiller to increase his lead atop the World Standings. The World Champion Chuckwagon Driver will be declared on Saturday night.

For the second time in 3 nights, Chanse Vigen drove his Terra Firma Resources outfit to the top time of the night with a run of 1:17.40 from barrel 3 in the second heat of the evening. That put him 27 one-hundredths of a second ahead of Chad Harden, with Mark Sutherland, Mitch Sutherland and Mike Vigen completing the top five times on the night.

With just 1 run to go to try and qualify for Sunday’s championship final, Dustin Gorst continues to lead the overall aggregate standings with the best three run total time of 3:48.67. That’s 51 one-hundredths of a second faster than Chad Harden, with Doug Irvine and Obrey Motowylo inside the top four, with Kelly Sutherland in fifth place overall, just 1 one-hundredth of a second out of a possible spot in Sunday’s championship final heat. The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will go into the championship final heat where the winner will take home the 2015 Battle of the Rockies Championship.

Day 4 of the final stop of the 2015 WPCA Pro Tour at the Battle of the Rockies from Rocky Mountain House can be heard live on Saturday night, August 15, 2015 on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 147, and Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville starting at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central and 7:00pm Mountain Time.
