Capacity crowds, perfect weather conditions and exciting chuckwagon racing were the recipe for the 2015 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. The championship wrapped up on Sunday afternoon, and when times were tabulated, it was Luke Tournier who captured his first career Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship..
Despite a slow run on the final day, Tournier, driving the SITE Energy Services outfit, and along with outriders Chance Flad and Quaid Tournier, made hung on to win the 2015 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship and the George Normand Memorial Buckle with a four day total time of 5:06.82. Second place went to reigning Colonial Days Fair Champion Darcy Flad, 17 one-hundredths of a second behind the champion Tournier, with Jordie Fike, Doug Irvine and Mitch Sutherland rounding out the top five overall.
On the day, Chad Fike, driving the JIMBOB Group of Companies outfit, posted the fast time of the afternoon with a run of 1:16.18 from barrel 4 in the 3rd heat. Mike Vigen was second, Darcy Flad was third, followed by Barry Hodgson and Gary Gorst rounding out the top five on the afternoon.
