KIRK SUTHERLAND VAULTS TO THE LEAD AT THE PONOKA STAMPEDE

 

 It was a hot Saturday night at the Ponoka Stampede, as night 2 was run off in front of a capacity crowd. Racetrack conditions were excellent, and some thrilling races were watched by the Ponoka chuckwagon fans. When the night wrapped up, it was reigning World Champion Chuckwagon Driver Kirk Sutherland who posted the fast time on the night with a 1:15.66.

Coming off barrel number 2 in the 9th heat, Sutherand - driving the EMCO Corporation outfit - placed first on the night by 12 one-hundredths of a second over former Ponoka Stampede Champion Mike Vigen. Logan Gorst and Roger Moore split third and fourth on the night, with Luke Tournier rounding out the top five on the night.
