Moonshine Recipes for Those Who Live on the Wild Side

    Check out these five top moonshine recipes – perfect for y’all who like to live life on the wild side.

    Just remember, these recipes have quite a kick, if you know what I mean. Always make sure you have a designated driver and put those guns away!

    1. Who’s got the Hooch?

    What you need:

    • 25 pounds white corn meal (course, ground)
    • 50 pounds sugar
    • 1 gram malt, any flavor

    What to do:

    1. Boil water
    2. Stir in cornmeal
    3. Cool
    4. Stir in sugar and malt
    5. Let sit for 24 hours
    6. Stir
    7. Let ferment for at least 24 hours
    8. Enjoy!

     

    2. Whiskey a Go Go

    What you need:

    • malt
    • sugar
    • yeast (1 cake)
    • warm water (5 grams for every malt can)

    What to do:

    1. Add 5 grams of warm water for each can of malt
    2. Dissolve in 5 pounds of sugar
    3. Dissolve in yeast
    4. Mix ingredients together (DO NOT USE ALUMINUM CONTAINERS)
    5. Keep covered and warm for 24 hours

    3. Black Beard’s Rum

    What you need:

    • 2 pounds of brown sugar for every gallon of water
    • 1 cup of honey for every ten gallons
    • 1-3 ounces of yeast for every ten gallons of mash
    • Hydrometer
    • Fermenter

    What to do:

    1. Set hydrometer to 90, not more than 100
    2. Add 2 ounces of yeast for every 10 gallons of mash
    3. Heat ¼ of the water to 125 degrees
    4. Stir in sugar, then honey
    5. Pour mixture into fermenter
    6. Fill with water, cool to 80 degrees
    7. Add yeast
    8. Ferment for 1-2 weeks

    4. Banana Brandy Moonshine

    What you need:

    • Ripe bananas, 80 pounds
    • 20 pounds of granulated sugar
    • Yeast energizer, 1 teaspoon
    • 5 packets of EC-1118,
    • 30 gram fermenter barrel

     What to do:

    1. Blend peeled bananas and pour mixture into barrel
    2. Heat water and dissolve sugar
    3. Add to barrel
    4. Add yeast to barrel
    5. Keep adding more water until the mixture equals 10 grams
    6. Let ferment for 2-7 days

    5. The Devil’s Drink

    What you need:

    • 5 pounds cornmeal
    • 5 pounds sugar
    • 10 grams of distilled water
    • 1 cake dry ale yeast
    • 1 pint of malt extract
    • 20 gallon copper or stainless steel container

    What to do:

    1. Fill container with water
    2. Heat to 120 degrees
    3. Add cornmeal slowly, stirring often to dissolve
    4. Add sugar, stirring constantly
    5. Heat for 30 minutes – do not scorch
    6. When the mixture thickens to an oatmeal-like consistency, fill sink with cool water and put the pot in cool water
    7. On the side, dissolve yeast in 2 cups of warm water
    8. Add to mixture
    9. Add malt extract
    10. Ferment for 24 hours to 2 weeks
