Rusty Wright

Today, I had the great pleasure to talk with Saddle Bronc Rookle Sensation, Rusty Wright. After  four days of competition in Pool A at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo,  he leads it winning three days out of four.

Rusty comes from a well known family in rodeo...with his father Cody & UncleJesse former world champions, along  with current world  champion Spencer and to round out the winning group there's also his Uncle Jesse. All five Wrights are entered in this year's Calgary Stampede Saddle Bronc event. In Pool A, his father placed second overall in the first leg of rodeo competition.

Last year, before he graduated from high school, Rusty was entering the big winter rodeos in Texas and winning them...on his way to rodeoing full time with his father and brothers.

Fast forward sixteen months later and he's currently fourth in the  PRCA World Saddle Bronc Standings (and rising!) coming into the Stampede with lots of momentum. Even still, Rusty said he didn't expect to win the  go rounds here, his goal was just to place in the money in each round. He says it's been a real confidence booster to win like the has the last few days and  it feels good to to sit back and relax for this Sunday's Showdown. He wants his name on the Championship Bronze this weekend and failing having that happen, he'd settle for having his Dad win it.
