This Weekend is an exciting time for Rodeo Fans across North America. It marks the beginning of what is known is as Cowboy Christmas, aptly named for the two week string of the biggest Pro Rodeos in the PRCA & CPRA, the two biggest Rodeo Associations. North of the Border, the biggest rodeo kicks off up in Ponoka, Alberta followed by another one a day later, 40 miles south in Airdrie. Over in Super Natural British Columbia, the legendary Williams Lake Stampede is set to launch its 89th Edition as well on Friday afternoon.
The Ponoka Stampede since 1936 is a continuing statement of our Western Heritage. It has grown from 3,000 rodeo fans to one of the Top 10 rodeos in the world featuring Chuckwagon races, concerts, parades, midway and of course, all of the traditional rodeo events. The best cowboys and cowgirls in North America travel to the Ponoka Stampede to compete on the finest rodeo stock for over a half a million dollars in prize money.
The Ponoka Stampede is more than just a rodeo, it's a seventy-eight year old tradition that continues to endure, becoming a bigger and better show. The Stampede is the largest rodeo sanctioned by the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and attracts the top cowboys from across North America. Rodeo Performances are held each afternoon at 1pm and World Championship Chuckwagon Races run each night at 6:30pm, June 26th through July 1st. Thrilling Championship Rodeo & Chuckwagon Finals are held starting at 6:30pm on July 1st.

World and Canadian champions are part of our consistently high number of contestant entries at the Airdrie Pro Rodeo. In 2010, we had more cowboys and cowgirls than at any other Canadian Professional Rodeo Association event. They are proud to be in the top 10 professional rodeos by payout, in Canada. Airdrie has had an annual rodeo since 1967.
This year the Airdrie Pro Rodeo runs June 26th through July 1st with performances beginning at 6pm and at 2pm on Canada Day.
