A huge congratulations is in order for Chris Stapleton and director Tim Mattia! The pair have won the CMA Award for Music Video of the Year for “Fire Away.” The news was revealed this morning on ABC’s Good Morning America.

The “Fire Away” music video made headlines upon its release for its strong and emotional message about mental health awareness. The video stars actors Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva and depicts a young couple’s blissful relationship that takes a turn for the worse when the woman’s mental health condition takes over.

“It just was a very organic kind of thing that unfolded into hopefully what is a good piece of art and then also something that might help somebody,” Stapleton told Sounds Like Nashville of the clip.

The “Fire Away” video beat out fellow artists’ videos nominated in the category including Cam’s “Burning House,” Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind,” Eric Church’s “Record Year” and Dierks Bentley’s “Somewhere on a Beach.”

This marks Stapleton’s first win in the Music Video of the Year category and brings his overall CMA Awards tally to five. Tonight, he is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Single of the Year for “Nobody To Blame.

The 50th Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena tonight at 8/7c.
