Thomas Rhett won high acclaim and multiple awards for his hit “Die a Happy Man,” written about his wife, Lauren. Now, the 26-year-old is following up his stream of chart-toppers with another romantic tune about his partner.
“Star of the Show” was actually the first song Rhett ever wrote about Lauren. It’s been a regular addition to his live set lists, and is a favorite of many longtime fans.
“It was a staple in our set before we had any hits, and fans still request it to this day,” Rhett said in a statement. The funky beat and smooth vocals stay close to his crossover sound which has become beloved by many younger country fans.
“Star of the Show” will be featured on Rhett’s upcoming third studio album, which is still in the works. Fans will likely see it hit the shelves sometime in early 2017.
Earlier this week, Rhett announced plans for his first-ever headlining tour in 2017. On Feb. 23, the country star will head out on a 15-city trek with support from Kelsea Ballerini, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd. You can find more information about the tour at Rhett’s official website
